I feel like I've just been smacked by a slegdehammer. It was a corker of an episode, though it did have some faults (mainly in music choice) it was a roller coaster ride of epic porportions. I'm not sure how to rate it, it's apples and oranges with the really good eps so far, but it is very good.
John Simm is perfect as the Master, mad and manic and just right there. Insane and over the top enough to pay homage to the pantomime villain of TV's years past. I'm not sure I buy the madness as a motivation though, it negates too much of the history of Who, I hope there's more to it than the "Schism" issue.
Geeks options a plenty, from Little Britain, to Jelly Babies and the throwaway to the "I thought he was your secret brother". Once again Martha's mum is an idiot and should be thrown off the helicarrier, at least her old man had some sense. Martha annoyed the crap out of me too, she has not grown on me, and the obsession with the Doctor romantically prevents her progression. Dump the idea or move on with a new companion. Please.
Action, exposition for the Master, Torchwood and even Gallfrey, Timelords akimbo.
Can't wait for the conclusion, all the points of interest and complaints on the review sites and got jump in the proverbial, I loved the ride.
Not much else to say without loading up the spoilage...
