Well. I'll start off by saying it.
Disappointing.
There's not too much to say other than I felt more than a little cheated by this episode.
Ian McNiece I like as an actor, but his portrayal of Churchill was a pantomime production effort. The Daleks felt as threatening as wet lettuce and the new improved colorful I-Dalek range just ... naff.
Perhaps my knowledge of Churchill is too much for this portrayal, as also the history of the Blitz and the idea of the plucky Brits struggling on against an enemy in wartime is irritating when in reality it appears Churchill goaded Germany into attack with a vicious bombing campaign of his own.
Or maybe it's just all too Boy's Own Adventure.
I don't know.
I didn't like it.
Maybe next week will be better, there's always one or two I dislike - it's never been perfect. Pompeii was rubbish, as was Shakespeare and don't get me started on the Daleks/Manhatten debacle.
Move on.
