The Time Of Angels - Gaz

This week we are no longer scared of statues of angels, we are now bloody terrified of them... also you can add, terrified of any form of stone statue in a vaguely human shape and pictures of said statues in any form... terrific!

It's now also bed time...maybe...

So Steven Moffat delivers an episode of Doctor Who that made the adults in this house jump, and cower or was that cower and jump? It was in a word brilliant!

Despite this being the first of a two episode story, I thought it raced along, at no point did to seem to dawdle and get off track also it had a rather perplexing cliff-hanger, so I cannot wait until next week.

It was great to see Alex Kingston return as River Song, who despite being older is in fact younger and not a Professor yet, talk about timey-whimy. But aside from that slight blunder in the fact that we all live in the real world, she is great, hey sign her up for the next episode of Indiana Jones. Of course we may soon tire of the convoluted Song/Doctor epic love story, but for now it's still kinda fun and played nicely for laughs. Speaking of laughs, Amy Pond continues to grow each week, this week there is some great comedic lines and delivery. Also an act of direct disobedience, a bit of pointed comment, some outright bravery and some clever thinking.

So how about 'em Weeping Angels? There's more than a few things to be sorted out next week, such as why is River Sing chasing them down on behalf of the military/church? What was she doing in prison? Why is the military/church in power? Why have the angels gone from terrifying, but essentially crazy (in the previous story they moved you along in time, which was inconvenient, but not fatal), to be more terrifying and rather violent at the murder?

Oh and be honest, which is going to haunt you more, the full Weeping Angel or the half decayed ones?

In summary a cracking episode, cannot wait until next week... or maybe I can, meanwhile I'll be avoiding garden centres for a while.

I liked:
The return of River Song
Some cracking dialogue featuring The Doctor, River and Amy
Why the TARDIS wheezes
Being caught up in the tension

I disliked:
The military/church, seems a bit pointless, could have been any form of military and it would have worked, it's just a bit over thought
One moment they are "crack troops", the next they are clearly just shite

I need to be convinced:
The River/Doctor concept will not get beaten to death

Tune in next week kids!
