Torchwood 2.4 Meat

Torchwood season 2 gets better and better each week. Sadly the relationship nonsense continues unabated, from the embarassing efforts of Tosh to the sad and wistful looks of Captain Jack envying the life that Gwen has.

The plot is not very complicated but it's carried off well, with Rhys becoming involved and with some all too human gangsters meddling in things they know nothing about. The basic concept of finding a giant space creature and the first thought being 'let's butcher it for money' is a unique one, but fits with the semi-professional, less than average intelligence hoods who have stumbled into the scheme.

Ianto seems to be getting funnier each week. Tosh embarasses herself in fawning over Owen, whom everyone knows is bad news in the women department. Gwen and Rhys's shouting match is well written and well acted and more realistic than much else ever before on this show. Full marks for bringing the impact into the home and presenting real reactions - and despite the desire of most involved, there's no shower moment for this change in status. Bravo, we'll see how long that lasts.

Good epiosde, not much happens but it all happens quite realistically and entertaingly. 9/10.

Next week more stuff about Jack's background. Wonder what else will be retconned in.
