There's a good BBC, much better in the second episode. Torchwood's back in the saddle and after an embarassing first episode roars back into life with number two.
This is more like it, a standalone episode (with potential for follow up hopefully) that takes a simple concept and follows it through to it's conclusion, with action a plenty and suspense sewn in at every step. The basic concept is that an alien sleeper agent inhabits the body/life of a normal person whose life is suddenly turned inside out by activation. The human/unwilling element of this alien plot provides some excellent dramatic themes and they are delivered with concise charcaterisations from the team, who is ruthless, who is supportive etc...
The Sleeper herself looks a bit too Martha Jones for my liking but the slower unravelling of the why and how and the eventual discovery of the others lead to some nice, tightly shot action scenes that deliver without the usual 'fakery'of british sci-fi.
Not much more else to say without major spoilage, but some nice nods to T2, and nice use of the Torchwood Gas Guzzling Land Rover.
9/10.
